For this project, I wanted to take an old scene that I felt wasn't well lit and give it the lumen treatment. I also took the time to rebuild the layout and try to capture a mood that fit better with the new layout.
This project was something a bit new and a bit old for me. It all started when I found an old scene that I thought would be fun to "polish." It was after poking around that scene that I realized that where I was, 10 years ago and where I am today was very different. My standards were very different and ultimately, I was making something completely new with inspirations from my past scene.
For the environment, I drew inspiration from military vehicles and equipment. I wanted it to feel like a time capsule that had been forgotten over time with some modernization to support their experiments, in this room.
I created the entire environment from the ground up. I tried to maximize the modules and the tiling trims to get the most of them and push them as far as possible. Going from conceptualizing it all to way to the finished product it was really fun to see things come together and try many ideas before landing on the ones that felt the best.
